MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Possessing marijuana, cocaine and even heroin will no longer be a crime in Mexico if they are in small amounts for personal use under new reforms passed by Congress that quickly drew U.S. criticism.

The measure given final passage 53-26 by senators in a late night session on Thursday is aimed at letting police focus on their battle against major drug dealers, and President
Vicente Fox is expected to sign it into law.

"This law provides more judicial tools for authorities to fight crime," presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar said on Friday.

He said the reforms, which were proposed by the government and approved earlier this week by the lower house of Congress, made laws against major traffickers "more severe."

The legislation came as a shock to Washington, which counts on Mexico's support in its war against drug smuggling gangs who move massive quantities of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamines through Mexico to U.S. consumers.

"I would say any law that decriminalizes dangerous drugs is not very helpful," said Judith Bryan, spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. "Drugs are dangerous. We don't think it is the appropriate way to go."

She said U.S. officials were still studying the reforms, under which police will not penalize people for possessing up to 5 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of opium, 25 milligrams of heroin or 500 milligrams of cocaine.

People caught with larger quantities of drugs will be treated as narcotics dealers and face increased jail terms under the plan.

The legal changes will also decriminalize the possession of limited quantities of other drugs, including LSD, hallucinogenic mushrooms, amphetamines and peyote -- a psychotropic cactus found in Mexico's northern deserts.

Fox has been seen as a loyal ally of the United States in the war on drugs, but the reforms could create new tensions.

A delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives visited Mexico last week and met with senior officials to discuss drug control issues, but was told nothing of the planned legislative changes, said Michelle Gress, a House subcommittee counsel who was part of the visiting team. "We were not informed," she said.

HARDENED CRIMINALS

Hundreds of people, including many police officers, have been killed in Mexico in the past year as drug cartels battle for control of lucrative smuggling routes into the United States.

The violence has raged mostly in northern Mexico but in recent months has spread south to cities like vacation resort Acapulco.

Under current law, it is up to local judges and police to decide on a case-by-case basis whether people should be prosecuted for possessing small quantities of drugs, a source at the Senate's health commission told Reuters.

"The object of this law is to not put consumers in jail, but rather those who sell and poison," said Senator Jorge Zermeno of the ruling National Action Party.

Hector Michel Camarena, an opposition senator from the Institutional Revolutionary Party, warned that although well intentioned, the law may go too far.

"There are serious questions we have to carefully analyse so that through our spirit of fighting drug dealing, we don't end up legalizing," he said. "We have to get rid of the concept of the (drug) consumer."

NEW YORK — Saying surfing the web is equivalent to reading a newspaper or talking on the phone, an administrative law judge has suggested that only a reprimand is appropriate as punishment for a city worker accused of failing to heed warnings to stay off the Internet.

Administrative Law Judge John Spooner reached his decision in the case of Toquir Choudhri, a 14-year veteran of the Department of Education who had been accused of ignoring supervisors who told him to stop browsing the Internet at work.

The ruling came after Mayor Michael Bloomberg fired a worker in the city's legislative office in Albany earlier this year after he saw the man playing a game of solitaire on his computer.

In his decision, Spooner wrote: "It should be observed that the Internet has become the modern equivalent of a telephone or a daily newspaper, providing a combination of communication and information that most employees use as frequently in their personal lives as for their work."

He added: "For this reason, city agencies permit workers to use a telephone for personal calls, so long as this does not interfere with their overall work performance. Many agencies apply the same standard to the use of the Internet for personal purposes."

Spooner dispensed the lightest possible punishment on Choudhri, a reprimand, after a search of Choudhri's computer files revealed he had visited several news and travel sites.

Martin Druyan, Choudhri's lawyer, called the ruling "very reasonable."

Call center workers in India are having nervous breakdowns after being abused by fed-up Australians – but they aren't getting much sympathy.

Half a million people are employed in India's fast-growing call-center industry, famous for maddening calls at dinner time in Australia.

For some of the workers, abuse and overnight working hours are contributing to stress, sleeping disorders, fatigue and migraines.

A survey of Mumbai call centers found most call-center workers suffer from burn-out stress syndrome.

The abuse included racial taunts, the Global South Research Group survey found.

"Racial abuse by foreign customers is a job hazard that most employees have to deal with," a report on the survey says.

"The US and Australia are the worst abusers," said Vino Shetty, from his Young Professionals Collective office in Mumbai.

"Australian accents – especially in working-class areas – are very difficult to understand.

"The Australians then get frustrated because they are not being understood and when they realise the call is from India their anger gets worse.

"They can feel that jobs are being taken away from Australians and if they recently have been out of a job themselves, the abuse escalates," he said.

But Queensland Consumers' Association spokeswoman Cherie Dalley said Australians were reacting to phone calls because they were at "ridiculous" times.

"Australians are tired of having their privacy interrupted by people trying to sell them things they didn't want in the first place," she said.

James Organ, director of Australian research organisation Callcentres.net, said "lots of poor innocent Indian workers" were abused regularly by Australians.

"Some companies are regretting outsourcing this business to India because of the damage it does to their products' reputation," he said.

"Its a cultural thing – the moment an Australian suspects the call is coming from India they can get uptight.

"Yet in the UK, where they are used to interacting with Indian people, there's not so much negative reaction."

Mr Organ's group estimates Indian call centers account for 50 million calls to Australian homes each year – one fifth of the total telemarketing calls made. "Everyone has a story of how they were called by someone in Mumbai," he said.

Outsourcing of telemarketing and other business began about seven years ago when companies found it was cheaper to hire people in India, the Philippines and Malaysia to sell mobile phone plans, financial services, insurance and credit cards.

TM Net Equips UUM With 45Mbps Leased Line

State News:

SINTOK, April 18 (Bernama) -- TM Net Sdn Bhd will equip Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) with one of the fastest internet connections found among Malaysia's public institutions of higher learning in the northern region.

It will provide UUM with the premium "tmnet direct leased line" connectivity linking the university's community direct to the internet at a blazing speed of 45 Mbps, as opposed to the previous speed of 9 Mbps.

The infrastructure upgrade will provide the university's community direct high-speed internet connectivity, TM Net's chief executive officer Michael Lai said in a statement here.

The bandwidth, upgraded last January and can be increased to 155 Mbps, is necessary to cater to the increasing need to support the university's network system as well as its communication system such as the internet, e-mail and the existing application system.

Previously, UUM subscribed to a 9 Mbps broadband capacity (2 Mbps through JARING and 7 Mbps from satellite).

However, due to the expanded needs of its community users that need to reach the university's network system and the internet, the subscribed speed was unable to support the capacity required, Lai said.

He said to further enhance the connectivity on campus, TM Net has also installed wireless network throughout the UUM campus and its administration buildings.

Giant rabbit

The critter pictured is Herman, a German Giant hare belonging to German breeder Hans Wagner. The extraordinarily large hare weighs 17 lbs., measures 17 inches high on all fours, and stands over three feet tall on his hind legs.

According to the Post article:

To find out how unusual Wagner’s wabbit is, The Post contacted Six Bells Rabbitry in Arvada, Colo.

"That's a huge animal. That's amazing," said breeder Michelle Jones. "In the States, it's hard to get them past 12 to 15 pounds."

How did German Giant get so big?

"I don't feed him an unusual diet," said Wagner. "He goes through more than his brothers and sisters, but he eats the same food mix. His favorite food is actually lettuce. He can never get enough of it."

Herr Hare is unusual in another way, he noted. "Unlike some other rabbits I've had, he’s really a gentle character — a gentle giant."

BERLIN (Reuters) - A cat saved the life of a newborn baby abandoned on the doorstep of a Cologne house in the middle of the night by meowing loudly until someone woke up, a police spokesman said Saturday.

"The cat is a hero," Cologne police spokesman Uwe Beier said. "Its loud meowing got the attention of the homeowner and saved the baby from suffering life-threatening hypothermia. The homeowner opened door to see why the cat was making so much noise and discovered the newborn."

Beier said the boy was taken to hospital at 5 a.m. on Thursday, when overnight temperatures fell toward zero, and had suffered only mild hypothermia. He said there was no indication of what happened to the boy's mother.

TM Net aims to increase broadband users

Business Times:

INTERNET service provider TM Net Sdn Bhd is working towards increasing its broadband customer base by 400,000 this year, primarily by converting dial-up users into broadband customers.

The service provider has 495,000 broadband subscribers as at end of last year.

The company also hopes to post double-digit growth in its revenue, driven by broadband growth, said chief executive officer Michael Lai.

"We are optimistic of growth in 2006, spurred by the high demand for our services. In line with the demand, we also see vast potential in the content segment.

"Once there is adequate, compelling and relevant content offered, it will further drive take-up rate and encourage Malaysians to 'broadband their lives'," Lai said in an interview recently.

Although TM Net's actual sales is not available, according to parent company Telekom Malaysia Bhd's 2005 financial results, Telekom has posted RM703 million in revenue from Internet and multimedia segment.

Converting its more than two million dial-up users can be a challenging task, Lai said, since the bulk of these users spends an average of RM20-RM30 a month, and switching to Streamyx (TM Net's broadband service) would translate into additional spending.

To make Streamyx more appealing to the market, TM Net has introduced a RM20 package to the light users last month. Before the RM20 package was launched, the lowest offering by TM Net was the RM44 package.

With the RM20 package, dubbed Streamyx Basic 384k, customers will be given 10 hours of surfing time, with the download speed of 384k and upload speed of 128k. At RM2 per hour, it is competitive against most cyber cafes in Klang Valley.

Try to surround yourself with more appetizing companions. If you know them well, you might even try to switch their suntan lotion with A-1 Steak Sauce. This will definitely improve your odds.

4: Don't panic.

In the event that a shark actually bites you, try to remain calm. This really won't help you survive, but everyone else on the beach will appreciate you not shrieking madly, as this is quite unsettling.

Google late Wednesday opened up its much-anticipated Calendar service to the public in beta form, complete with Gmail integration and SMS notifications. Code-named CL2, the free service enables users to quickly add events and reminders, send invitations and share their calendar with others.

Google Calendar can import events directly from Microsoft Outlook and Yahoo! Calendar, in addition to supporting calendar standards to view schedules on any device supporting iCal or XML files. Gmail will also recognize events mentioned in an e-mail to quickly add them to Google Calendar.

Sharing also plays a central role in the new service. Users can search their own agenda and even public calendars to find new events. Invitations can be sent to those even without a Google account, enabling them to post responses directly into the calendar.

For protection of sensitive data, limits can be placed on what events are shared, and organizations can even open their events to the world by integrating a Google Calendar button on their Web sites. The search giant also discusses potential privacy concerns, noting that it won't share personal information with anyone.

"Google's computers process the information in your calendars to offer you the best possible service, including formatting and displaying the information to you and backing up your calendars' contents. Google employees will not read your private calendar information," the company says.

Google Calendar works in IE 6 and Firefox on Windows, Mac and Linux. Safari support is still in the works, according to the company.

Streamyx: Wake-up or close shop, TM - Malaysiakini

We live in a little make believe cocoon called Malaysia and the threat of globalisation is going to destroy all our companies, GLCs and private, who insist on doing business as usual. MAS and Proton have already felt the heat. Telekom Malaysia is another government privatised company which still functions very much like a government department.

I applied for the Streamyx broadband Internet service in December just before Christmas. I was told to call a 1300 number for activation. After doing that, I was supposed to be able to enjoy broadband Internet speeds. However, after three days there was no DSL light which means that my line has not been hooked up.

Telekom claimed to have checked the ‘jumpering’ and said there was nothing wrong. Two installers have come and said there is nothing they can do because the problem is with Telekom. Two months on, I still cannot enjoy my broadband. To rub salt in the wound, the TM’s sales department sent me a letter to say that I have not activated my account and if I don’t do so soon, they will cancel my subscription.

Then as if that was not bad enough, I was billed RM88 for two months of broadband access which I have not even got. Somehow there seems to be little communication between the departments. What a mess!

All it takes is for TM to check the jumpering, go to my house to verify its working and if not go back to the jumpering again and repeat that until the customer is satisfied. What is lacking is a service mentality. If Telekom Malaysia is truly profit-driven in a competitive environment, it will realise that an unhappy customer will be someone else’s customer very soon. If there was an alternative out there, I would have switched immediately.

Close shop or wake up. The Malaysian market is an Utopia but the world out there won’t react so kindly.

GEORGETOWN: ‘Seks Dalam Tandas’, ‘Hentak Tangga Kolej Universiti’, ‘20 Tahun Punya’, ‘Aksi Kolej Indonesia’ dan ‘Bohsia Kota Raya’ adalah antara judul ‘panas’ terbaru klip video yang mendapat permintaan untuk dimuat turun ke dalam telefon bimbit di sini.

Selepas dikejutkan dengan penyebaran klip video lucah ‘Gro Bar Korek Yang Terlampau’ melalui telefon bimbit berkamera minggu lalu, kini adegan terbaru itu dikatakan menjadi koleksi peribadi pemilik telefon bimbit.

Kebanyakan adegan itu ditayangkan antara dua hingga empat minit memaparkan aksi lucah pasangan remaja tempatan berusia antara 18 hingga 25 tahun.

Adegan memberahikan itu dirakam berlatar belakang bilik hotel, atas tangga, bilik asrama dan bilik air.

Tinjaun Harian Metro mendapati klip video berkenaan mudah diperoleh dengan bayaran antara RM5 hingga RM10 setiap satu di beberapa kedai telekomunikasi di sini.

Peniaga tanpa segan silu bertanyakan sama ada pelanggan berminat ingin mendapatkan klip video berkenaan kononnya dilakonkan gadis Melayu sebagai tarikan.

Sekiranya pelanggan bersetuju, mereka akan memindahkan dengan menggunakan beberapa sistem hubungan yang ada dalam telefon bimbit berkamera seperti ‘Bluetooth’ dan ultra ungu.

Penelitian yang dilakukan mendapati klip itu dipercayai dirakam sendiri pasangan terbabit dan juga orang lain yang turut berada bersama mereka.

Ketua Pemuda Umno Bahagian Tanjong, Md Shaharudin Md Hassan Tajudin, berkata tindakan menjual dan menyebarkan klip video lucah itu adalah perbuatan biadap dan tidak bermoral.

Menurutnya, golongan terbabit sepatutnya menggunakan kemudahan itu untuk tujuan kebaikan bukan merosakkan pemikiran orang ramai selain membenarkan tubuh badan mereka dilihat orang lain.

Katanya, perbuatan itu patut dibendung segera bagi mengelakkan ia terus menular dan menjadi semakin buruk dan pihak berkuasa termasuk masyarakat, terutama orang ramai harus memandang serius masalah ini.

“Pemuda Umno turut menerima aduan mengenai penyebaran klip video ini yang semakin berleluasa dan terpanggil untuk memberi saranan kepada pihak berkuasa tempatan untuk memantau gejala sosial itu.

“Kami tidak mahu anak muda terutama orang Melayu hanyut dibuai dosa dan maksiat tanpa dihalang dan ditegah,” katanya ketika dihubungi Harian Metro.

Sementara itu, jurucakap polis memberi amaran kepada orang ramai supaya tidak menyimpan gambar lucah kerana boleh dikenakan tindakan mengikut Seksyen 292 dan 293 Kanun Keseksaan.

Menurutnya, jika sabit kesalahan mereka terbabit boleh dipenjara sehingga lima tahun atau denda atau kedua-duanya sekali.

Kelahiran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.

Kelahiran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. pada 12 Rabiulawal, Tahun Gajah di Mekah al-Mukarramah sebagai pembuka rahmat di pelosok alam semesta.

Kelahiran baginda menjadi seribu satu tanda bahawa baginda akan menjadi utusan terakhir dalam menyampaikan risalah Islam. Ia merupakan peristiwa utama dalam sejarah Islam.

Baginda mempunyai kelebihan luar biasa, bukan sahaja dilihat dalam konteks sebelum kelahirannya tetapi dalam konteks semasa dan selepas dilahirkan. Peristiwa luar biasa ini disebut sebagai Irhas.

Irhas bermaksud satu perkara luar biasa bagi manusia yang normal dan hanya diberikan kepada bakal nabi. Irhas dikategorikan kepada tiga:

1. Irhas yang dinyatakan di dalam kitab yang tidak boleh diubah atau dipinda.
2. Alamat-alamat kerasulan yang dibuktikan melalui perkhabaran daripada orang alim melalui ilham dan sebagainya.
3. Kejadian luar biasa yang berlaku semasa kelahiran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.

Sehubungan itu, masih ramai masyarakat Islam yang sebenarnya tidak mengetahui peristiwa di sebalik kelahiran baginda. Ini kerana masih banyak lagi rahsia yang belum tersingkap.

Oleh itu penulis terpanggil untuk menyingkap kembali peristiwa di sebalik kelahiran baginda Junjungan Besar s.a.w.

Sebenarnya banyak keajaiban yang berlaku sebelum kelahiran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.

Pertama, semasa Rasulullah s.a.w. berada di dalam kandungan bondanya, Aminah, beliau tidak merasa susah sebagaimana dialami oleh ibu-ibu yang hamil.

Kehamilannya disedari melalui perkhabaran malaikat yang datang kepadanya ketika beliau sedang tidur. Malaikat mengatakan bahawa beliau telah mengandungkan seorang Nabi dan Penghulu kepada seluruh umat manusia.

Selain itu kehamilannya ditandai dengan haidnya terputus dan berpindahnya cahaya daripada wajah Abdullah ke wajahnya.

Kedua, ketika Nur Muhammad masuk ke dalam rahim Aminah, Allah memerintahkan malaikat supaya membukakan pintu syurga Firdaus dan memberitahu semua penghuni langit dan bumi.

Tanah-tanah di persekitaran kawasan tersebut yang kering menjadi subur, pohon-pohon kayu rimbun dan berbuah lebat. Begitu juga haiwan-haiwan di darat dan di laut sibuk membincangkannya.

Ketiga, peperangan tentera bergajah yang disebut di dalam al-Quran surah al-Fil, datang menyerang kota Mekah. Ia diketuai oleh tentera bergajah dengan menunggang seekor gajah besar bernama Mahmudi.

Apabila mereka hampir sampai ke tempat tersebut, gajah-gajah itu berhenti dan berundur dengan izin Allah.

Namun demikian, sekumpulan burung Ababil datang menyerang dan menghancurkan mereka sebagaimana yang disebut di dalam al-Quran. Peristiwa ini amat menakjubkan dan diriwayatkan dalam kitab-kitab sejarah.

Keempat, Aminah turut mengalami mimpi yang menakjubkan. Beliau menadah tangan ke langit dan melihat sendiri malaikat turun dari langit. Ia diumpamakan kapas putih yang terapung di angkasa.

Kemudian malaikat tersebut berdiri di hadapannya. Ia berkata ``Khabar bahagia untuk saudara, wahai ibu daripada seorang nabi. Putera saudara itu menjadi penolong dan pembebas manusia. Namakan dia Ahmad.''

Semasa kelahiran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w., Aminah ditemani Asiah dan Maryam. Dalam hal ini ia merupakan satu isyarat bahawa Nabi Muhammad lebih tinggi darjatnya daripada Nabi Isa dan Musa.

Keadaan ini diterangkan dalam kitab Taurat dan Injil bahawa akan datang seorang nabi pada akhir zaman.

Semasa baginda dilahirkan, bondanya menyaksikan nur atau cahaya keluar dari tubuh badan baginda. Cahaya tersebut menyinari sehingga ke Istana Busra di Syria.

Ia dilihat seolah-olah seperti anak panah bagaikan pelangi sehingga dari jauh kota-kota tersebut dapat dilihat.

Ada juga yang berpendapat bahawa cahaya itu datang dan menerangi seluruh dunia. Ini dapat dijelaskan oleh sumber-sumber Arab yang paling awal yang menyatakan bahawa suatu cahaya terpancar dari rahim Aminah apabila baginda dilahirkan.

Aminah sendiri melihat baginda dalam keadaan terbaring dengan kedua tangannya mengangkat ke langit seperti seorang yang sedang berdoa.

Kemudian bondanya melihat awan turun menyelimuti dirinya sehingga beliau mendengar sebuah seruan ``Pimpinlah dia mengelilingi bumi Timur dan Barat, supaya mereka tahu dan dialah yang akan menghapuskan segala perkara syirik''.

Selepas itu awan tersebut lenyap daripada pandangan Aminah. Setengah riwayat menyatakan nabi dilahirkan dalam keadaan memandang ke arah langit sambil meletakkan tangannya ke tanah sebagai tanda ketinggian martabatnya daripada semua makhluk.

Dikatakan juga pada malam kelahiran baginda, berhala-berhala yang terdapat di situ mengalami kerosakan dan kemusnahan.

Menurut riwayat daripada Abdul Mutalib, ``Ketika aku sedang berada di Kaabah, tiba-tiba berhala jatuh dari tempatnya dan sujud kepada Allah. Lalu aku mendengar suara dari dinding Kaabah berkata, ``telah lahir nabi pilihan yang akan membinasakan orang kafir dan mensucikanku daripada berhala-berhala ini dan akan memerintahkan penyembahan Yang Maha Mengetahui.''

Selain itu di tempat yang lain pula satu goncangan berlaku di mahligai Kisra dan menyebabkan mahligai tersebut retak, manakala empat belas tiang serinya runtuh. Keadaan ini merupakan di antara tanda -tanda keruntuhan kerajaan tersebut.

Namun, api di negara Parsi yang tidak pernah padam hampir selama seribu tahun telah padam dengan sendirinya. Api tersebut merupakan api sembahan orang-orang Majusi yang dianggap sebagai tuhan. Peristiwa itu amat mengejutkan orang Parsi.

Dalam waktu yang sama, pada malam kelahiran baginda, Tasik Sava yang dianggap suci tenggelam ke dalam tanah.

Setelah baginda lahir, tembakan bintang menjadi kerap sebagai tanda bahawa pengetahuan syaitan dan jin mengenai perkara ghaib sudah tamat.

Dalam riwayat yang sahih dan masyhur, ketika baginda diasuh oleh ibu susunya iaitu Halimatus Sa'diah, ladang-ladang Halimah kembali menghijau setelah mengalami kemarau.

Begitu juga binatang ternakan seperti kambing mengeluarkan susu yang banyak. Selain itu, Nabi tidak pernah diganggu walaupun oleh seekor lalat termasuk juga pakaian baginda.

Halimah dan suaminya juga beberapa kali melihat tompokan awan kecil di atas kepala melindungi baginda daripada panas matahari.

Ketika berusia empat tahun, sedang baginda bermain-main dengan saudara susuannya, tiba-tiba datang malaikat mendekati baginda iaitu malaikat Jibril dan Mikail.

Lalu membelah dada baginda dan mengeluarkan segumpal darah dan mencuci gumpalan darah itu dengan salji. Ada yang meriwayatkan bahawa gumpalan darah itu dicuci di dalam bejana emas dengan air zam-zam, lalu diletakkan semula di tempatnya.

hal ini jelas diterangkan dalam surah Insyirah ayat 1 : Bukankah Kami telah melapangkan dadamu (wahai Muhammad)?

Berdasarkan peristiwa tersebut jelaslah kelahiran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. mempunyai keistimewaan tersendiri. Ini kerana baginda adalah khatamun nubuwwah, penutup segala nabi.

Perkara -perkara luar biasa ini telah membuktikan kepada kita kemuliaan baginda di sisi Allah, sekali gus sebagai bukti kerasulannya.

Di samping itu, bukti -bukti tersebut juga dijelaskan di dalam kitab kitab terdahulu seperti kitab Taurat, Zabur dan Injil sebagai rasul yang terakhir.

Seorang ahli ibadah bernama Isam Bin Yusuf, sangat warak dan khusyuk solatnya. Namun, dia selalu khuatir kalau-kalau ibadahnya kurang khusyuk dan selalu bertanya kepada orang yang dianggapnya lebih ibadahnya, demi untuk memperbaiki dirinya yang selalu dirasainya kurang khusyuk.

Pada suatu hari, Isam menghadiri majlis seorang abid bernama Hatim Al-Assam dan bertanya, "Wahai Aba Abdurrahman, bagaimanakah caranya tuan solat?" Hatim berkata, "Apabila masuk waktu solat, aku berwudhuk zahir dan batin."

Isam bertanya, "Bagaimana wudhuk zahir dan batin itu? "

Hatim berkata, "Wudhuk zahir sebagaimana biasa iaitu membasuh semua anggota wudhuk dengan air". Sementara wudhuk batin ialah membasuh anggota dengan tujuh perkara :-

• Bertaubat
• Menyesali dosa yang telah dilakukan
• Tidak tergila-gilakan dunia
• Tidak mencari/mengharap pujian orang (riya')
• Tinggalkan sifat berbangga
• Tinggalkan sifat khianat dan menipu
• Meninggalkan sifat dengki."
  

Seterusnya Hatim berkata, "Kemudian aku pergi ke masjid, aku kemaskan semua anggotaku dan menghadap kiblat. Aku berdiri dengan penuh kewaspadaan dan aku rasakan:

1. Aku sedang berhadapan dengan Allah,
2. Syurga di sebelah kananku,
3. Neraka di sebelah kiriku,
4. Malaikat Maut berada di belakangku, dan
5. Aku bayangkan pula aku seolah-olah berdiri di atas titian 'Siratal mustaqim' dan menganggap bahawa solatku kali ini adalah solat terakhir bagiku, kemudian aku berniat dan bertakbir dengan baik."
   

"Setiap bacaan dan doa didalam solat, aku faham! maknanya kemudian aku rukuk dan sujud dengan tawadhuk, aku bertasyahud dengan penuh pengharapan dan aku memberi salam dengan ikhlas. Beginilah aku bersolat selama 30 tahun."

Apabila Isam mendengar, menangislah dia kerana membayangkan ibadahnya yang kurang baik bila dibandingkan dengan Hatim.

PRAGUE (Reuters) - A Czech man ate frogs and other small animals for four days after he was trapped on an island cut off by flooding, the daily Pravo reported Wednesday.

Zdenek Bucek, 30, was taking a short-cut through the woods near the southeastern town of Breclav when a flood wave trapped him on a small patch of high ground.

Bucek was not carrying a cell phone and the water was too cold to swim through. To survive, he caught frogs and drank the floodwater until he flagged down an emergency crew passing by on a boat four days later.

"I had no idea a flood was coming. I had not even noticed that the forests were declared off limits," he said.

Pravo said Bucek had matches, but did not elaborate on how he preferred his frogs.

Floods from rain and melting snow have killed at least six Czechs over the past week and forced thousands to flee their homes.
