The Concorde was the world's only supersonic passenger jet to provide long- standing service to the public. It was built through a partnership between Britain and France and became an important symbol of European innovation after its inaugural flight in 1976. Despite concerns over noise, the Concorde made the transatlantic voyage possible in just over three hours.
