Woman who escaped prison, eluded capture for 32 years back in court

WBIR.COM - Woman who escaped prison, eluded capture for 32 years back in court:
A Memphis judge is expected to rule today in the case of a woman who avoided capture for more than three decades after escaping from a Tennessee prison.

Margo Freshwater was convicted of first-degree murder of 60-year-old Hillman Robbins, a liquor store clerk shot to death in Memphis in December 1966.

She has asked the judge to give her a new trial based on statements from a jailhouse informant that could have helped her defense.

Freshwater, who was 18 at the time of the shooting, was sentenced to 99 years, but escaped prison in 1970.

She was arrested after 32 years on the run in Columbus, Ohio in 2002, where she had been living under an assumed name.
