"KUANTAN: An Indonesian maid made off with an assortment of jewellery worth RM300,000 from her employer, a Datin, from a house in Taman Selamat near Kuantan.
State CID deputy chief Mohd Haris Daud said the victim, aged 51, from Kuala Lumpur only realised the loss several days later.
He said the victim and her husband had returned to her mother’s house here on Oct 23 to attend a special ceremony in Pekan.
“The victim had placed all her jewellery in a bag and kept it in a cupboard in her room.
“When she went to check the items again on Monday, she found the bag was gone,” he said, adding that the maid was also missing from the house.
Supt Mohd Haris said that among the items stolen were five gold chains, gold rings, 12 wrist watches and bracelets.
He said police would investigate the case under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft and were in the midst of tracing the maid."
